activating 100mbit network cards in linux

Post by Dionysu » Wed, 28 Aug 2002 09:38:58

Is there anything special I have to do to make my 10/100 Mbit card (A
Bromax BC-305A) work in 100Mbit mode under linux? I have one of these
cards each in my windows98 and linux machines, and can't find any
settings under either of these OSes that would let me up it to
100Mbits....anyhow, this is probably an issue with the hardware (well,
the cards are rather cheap'n'dodgy) rather than a software problem,
but thought I'd ask here first..

thanks in advance

Normally, 100 MBit cards will do the right thing automatically.  Is
there a reason you don't think they are running in 100 Mbit mode? What
are they connected to?

well....it actually was (according to mii-tools)....I've written a
post below.....I'm getting 10mbit speeds on a straight crossover link,
that's the reason for the concern ;-<
