If the two LANS are using the same network number then you might want to take
a look at the BRIDGING HOWTO document located at http://www.linuxdoc.org
although as far as I know, this hasn't been tested with the 2.4 kernel
family.  If they are different subnets, then you should either be able to use
a VPN arrangement to form the link (http://www.freeswan.org) or perhaps using
something that is discussed in the ADV-ROUTING HOWTO located at
http://www.linuxdoc.org.

See ya

1. linux, Ethernet bridging over PPP?

Hello 2 U all,

I've got a situation in which I would want to connect two distant Ethernet
networks using the same IP range as if they were a single network (a single
IP range). First thing that crosses my mind is using two linux hosts
interconnected with a dialup PPP connection, and let these two hosts act as
an Ethernet bridge. Is such a thing possible with the current stable kernels
(2.2.14)? Has anyone done something similar and can I find somewhere on the
Internet a description of what needs to be done to achieve this?

Any other solutions that might solve my problem?

Thanks,
