Please HELP me identify a FastEthernet Pci card

Post by Chessn » Mon, 22 Feb 1999 04:00:00

I've got a FastEthernet Pci PnP 32 bit card.It works ok with w95.
I'm using it to access internet thru a cable modem.
I installed redhat 5.0 but I cannot config the card.
It's made in Taiwan by VIA Technologies and the model is SN5100TX.
I was not able to find a single reference on the Internet about this company
or about the model of the card.
Would really appreciate any help.

Hi,

first of all, check the io, irq of your card : cat /proc/pci if it's a PCI card
(must be I guess)
Write down the io, irq

( cat /proc/interrups if it's a ISA. )

If your card is a Ne2000 compatible, add the io, iqc into your rc.modules.

reboot, then see what will append !

io = input, output address
irq = interuptions

btw, I'm using too a modemcable and 10mbps are more efficient !

later

Please HELP me identify a FastEthernet Pci card

If you have the money, go buy yourself a nice 3Com card. You'll save
yourself a LOT of trouble.

As for your card, there is a driver for almost every piece of hardware in
existence (even those old, stale ISA cards from long ago) on this site
... hmm, which is listed on my NETSCAPE (on my Win98 partition, of which
I haven't gotten a driver to mount it yet ...) bookmark file. Sorry.

1. Please Help me install drivers for FastEthernet card

Im installing RH 5.0.The drivers for my FastEthernet Card I found on
the web of the manufacturer(VIA-Taiwan).I followed the instructions:
gcc -DMODULE -D__KERNEL__ -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -O6 -c fet3043.c
cp ./fet3043.o /usr/src/linux/modules/fet3043.o
It cant do the copy because /usr/scr/linux doesnt exist in RH.
So where should I copy fet3043.o?

Would really appreciate any help.
