isdn gateway

isdn gateway

Post by Philip » Fri, 27 Apr 2001 17:11:33

hello,
i have an isdn gateway with mppp dial-on-demand. the dial-on-demand for the
second channel is controlled by the xibod package series n in suse linux
7.0. to masquerade the internal machines, i use the suse firewall package.
the last connection is always made at 23:5x and at 0:00 a cron job will be
executed. its a system job that deletes the file cron.daily or sth. like
that.
from this moment on the gateway does no longer accept packages from internal
machines "input deny eth0...", so no connection can be made and the internet
no longer works and also a ping from the internal network doesn t work.
when i make an isdn connection manually with "isdnctrl dial ippp0" all works
like before.
i have the same configuration on a fallback gateway. there all works fine.
the fallback has another hardware. the gateway mentioned above has 2 isdn
cards.
can anybody help me ?
thanks a lot
regards
philippe

Hi Philippe,

Yes, I do speak german.

- SWITCH -

Clients vom Ausfall betroffen ?

hello,

you can see the systems log-file when you type "tail -f /var/log/messages"

in console.

the syslogd generates the messages, also see /etc/syslog.conf.

bye

PS: i see at your mail adress the ending .de. do you speak german? if so, we

can do this in future.

Hi,

looks like we have a similar prob: -> ipchains / ping

I haven't found out what brings down the forwarding, that's why you are one

step further

where do you find the message "input deny eth0..." ?

I will check out if "cron" causes problems too and telll you tomorrow.
