Email server question

Email server question

Post by Todd » Sat, 30 Mar 2002 00:35:07

Please excuse my ignorance in this subject, but ..

I've setup a webserver(www.mycomany.com)  for my business and have that

interim email hoster to running on our own POP email server. The question I
have is this - What software and what general procedures do I need to follow
to implement this.

The web server is win2k, but I also have a mandrake 8.0 box running which I
would use for the email server (though I am NOT a Linux wiz by any means). I
have seen packages that disperse email dropped to a catchall at the ISP to
each email address in my organization, but what I what to do is have a full
POP mail box with the email coming directly from the internet to our network
with no middle man.

Any suggestions?

TIA
Todd

you need to have a mail-server (e.g. exim, sendmail...) and a pop3-server (e.g.
solid-pop3d) running on the linux box.  Check out the man pages, the internet,
or google's newsgroups archive for this.
