ftp and tcp transfer problems

File transfer to Linux 6.0 and 6.1 (RedHat) with ftp hangs. Setting
tcpwindow to 2048 removes problem other values changes where hang occurs.
Also program to program using sockets and TCP goes wrong and extra bytes
gets inserted into data stream. The frequency of the problem changes with
different values of SO_RCVBUF and SO_SNDBUF and problem does not show up if
sender does a 1 second sleep for every 10 to 20 KB.

That sounds horrible.  One suspects a bug in either the kernel or
your code, and maybe a hardware problem, too.
Can you reproduce this with the 2.2.14 kernel running on both sides?
