I installed a 1.2.5 kernel (before 1.1.58 kernel + distribution) to drive a new
PCMCIA ethernet card (3c586c in notebook, CL-PD672x socket chip).
Using ping (in/out) shows sometimes "ICMP checksum errors".
Running ftp hangs from time to time in conjunction with a console messages of
the form
"eth0 transmit timed out tx_status 00 status 2000" (o. similar numbers)
then (more rare)
"eth0: setting Rx_mode to -1 address.."
It happend, that the machine hung entirely.
What can I do now?
I'd appreciate any help.
Joerg
