pppd: timeout sending Config-Requests

pppd: timeout sending Config-Requests

Post by Randy Kobe » Tue, 14 Nov 1995 04:00:00

I'm using pppd-2.2.0c compiled into 1.2.13 to establish
a ppp connection to a Sun using slirp-0.95h. The connection
seems to go OK, and I get rates of about 2.2 kB/s for compressed
files using a 28.8 modem. However, every minute I get a message
        pppd: CCP: timeout sending Config-requests
logged into /var/log/syslog. I can't find the meaning of this
message - can someone tell me how to fix this up? Thanks very much.

1. pppd fails with: LCP: timeout sending Config-Requests

18 months ago I managed a ppp connection to a local ISP and it has worked
ever since.  But now I am attempting a connection to unidial.com and I get
this in
the /var/log/messages file:

LCP: timeout sending Config-Requests
Connection Terminated
Receive serial link is not 8-bit clean
Problem:  all had bit 7 set to 0

This is Red Hat 4 Linux

Please email even if you post (I am liable to miss posts until I get used to
IE4 under W95).
