Hi,

I have just upgraded my kernel, but now, when booting, my 2
ethernet-devices, I get:
eth0: determining IP information from eth0 ... Operation failed
    eth1: delaying eth1 initialisation
Does anyone know what I have to change & where ?

Tnx,
    Michael

Hello,

did you check Documentation/Changes (comes with every kernel) and
upgraded your system accordingly?

It sounds like (but you don't mention it) that you have done a major kernel
upgrade from the 2.2x kernel family to the 2.4 family.  There were some major
changes made between the 2.2 and 2.4 series of kernels, so you will most
likely have to recompile programs like dhcpcd to make use of the new kernel
and the modified system calls which have been introduced with the new kernel.

See ya

make sure that you have the appropriate driver module for eth1, or built it
into the kernel yourself.

as for eth0, see Dean's comment.  Although I've never encountered such a
problem induced by kernel upgrades.

1. Help to boot new kernel with grub -delited the old kernel before tried the new one

Hi.
Can someone help, how to update Grub so I can boot into linux. I
updated the kernel with up2date software on RedHat and followed the
Instructions to delete the old kernel files from /boot and now I can't
boot into anything old or new kernel. What do I do to boot into linux.
And Grub boot loader doesn't let me run any usefull commands. Thank
you. I tried to update Redhat 7.3 so it would let me boot into linux
but that didn't work. Thank you.
