should rexecd show up under su -c "ps aux | grep rexecd" ?

I am trying to rexec a command, but so far no luck.  I have done his
before with SCO, but my Linux box at home is not cooperative.  Is
rexecd run as a seperate daemon that I should check for?  How can I
see which services are currently running at which ports?

Thanks... this is vexing, as I want to automate starting up some X
apps.

Rexecd is usually run from inetd, if at all.  See /etc/inetd.conf.
It's not very secure as the protocol transfers passwords in clear text.

Look into rsh (not so secure either) or ssh (very secure).  For remote
X, look at the Remote X Apps mini-HOWTO, your local copy or at
<http://www.xs4all.nl/~zweije/xauth.html>.

Good luck.                                                     Vincent.

1. Hmmm..."rexecd" for Shadow suite?!?

[From: header modified to thwart e-mail spam.  See .sig for details]

I installed the shadow-ina-box-1.2 package and am now a satisfied
Shadow password user.

However I noticed the rexecd daemon doesn't work.  I downloaded the
rexec.tgz file from sunsite but it doesn't appear to have shadow
support in the code.

I was wondering if there is a version out there that does have this
support, and where I might find it.
