problem having samba work with Konqueror (KDE2.0)

Post by Kundan Kuma » Mon, 27 Nov 2000 01:54:53

Hi all,
I am running Mandrake 7.2 with KDE 2.0. I have samba 2.0.7 running on my
computer. I can see and access my linux system from the Network
Neighborhood.

I can also use the smbclient and smbmount commands without any problem.
The linux machine has the net-bios name 'imstlinux'

The problem lies with the KDE2.0 Konqueror. I cannot see the windows
network neighborhood in the Konqueror. If i wan to connect to a PC say
testpc, by putting "smb:/testpc', there appears a login window with thitle
'Authorization Request - UI server' with message 'Authorization is required
to access host imstlinux'
I put my network login and password but nothing shows up in the konqueror.

If I give smb:/ in the address bar, same thing happens.

Using xsmbrowser with default as broadcast, returns the following message:
Unable to find domain master
It has all the default settings.

The testparm result is:
======================================================================

problem having samba work with Konqueror (KDE2.0)

Post by Bruce Collin » Mon, 15 Jan 2001 07:00:49

I believe this has been reported at www.kde.org as bug number #10833.  I
have the same problem myself and do not know of any workarounds.

Regards,
Bruce
