Bandwith Usage

Bandwith Usage

Hi.

Is there a way to limit the bandwidth-usage of (all or specific) users
on a shared line?  Or a way to slow FTP traffic down in favour of other
services?

We have a 2mbit directed radio connection which suffers too much from a
few users (who happily use more then 70% of the available bandwidth
alone) linked to the server, which is linked by a switch to the LAN.

Any hard- or software solution would be welcome...

1. Q: Limit client's bandwith-usage of router/gateway?

Hello NG!

I have the following problem:

I am administering a LAN, with some Windows clients and an SuSe gateway.
SuSe is routing via iptables.

Now one of the clients is using the internet bandwith heavily. The user
won't regulate himself, so I have to regulate him, as it seems.
But how?

I have got internet access with 1024/512 kb/s. I want to allow the client to
use maximum 50% of this bandwith.
Can anybody tell me how?

Thanx for any hint.
Tom.

p.s. i have samba running as pdc on the linux box.
