I want to get SLIP running on my Linux at home. I have a
slip account at my university (where the slip server is) and
I can dial up and get a dynamic IP address. The problem I
am having is with dip. When I invoke dip I don't even get the
dip prompt. Instead I get an error message which reads:
simple: host name lookup failure
(My hostname is 'simple'; I'll probably be changing that soon).
I was wondering if any one could suggest a solution to this error.
I installed my linux way back in the days of the 0.99 releases
and I'm wondering if maybe there's some config file somewhere that
needs to be fixed. I'm running kernel 1.0 with SLIP and TCP/IP
configured in.
I would appreciate any comments or suggestions. BTW, I read the
whole NET-2-HOWTO, which is a really good document, but found
nothing on my problem.
