redhat remote printing - printtool

Post by xgano » Fri, 31 Aug 2001 17:24:58

Hi,
I have R.H 7.1 box and would like to connect to (Lexmark Optra) LAN printer (IP address: 139.21.45.2). I used printtool and configured as UNIX Printer (lpd Queue) and enter Server:139.21.45.2

When I test print, the error messages Get_local_host: hostname 'hostname' bad appeared.
What did I configure wrongly ?

   Thanks.

Is it possible to see the excerpt of the /etc/printcap file, to see how the
definition appears ?

See ya

do you have a line in your /etc./hosts file that looks like
127.0.0.1 localhost  "your domain name"
-suresh

1. RedHat Linux v6.2 Printtool doesn't print red color...

I have a HP 560c Deskjet printer. When I do a test print, it doesn't
print red color (turns out to be yellow-brownish). I tried printing
red in Windows 98, and came out correctly.

Any ideas? I look forward to receiving replies soon. :)
