NE4200 PCMCIA Ethernet and RedHat

Has anybody ever gotten an NE4200 Ethernet adaptor working with RedHat?
I need to install Linux on a notebook for a client, and this is the
Ethernet adaptor they supplied me with. Supposedly this adaptor is
NE2000 compatible (at least according to the manual), but the NE2000
driver won't find it even if I give it the card's base address and IRQ
on the LILO command line. RedHat's PCMCIA support doesn't seem to load
any Ethernet card support either.

Help!

Funny as it seems to be a supported PCMCIA card. You need PCMCIA
suppport and  a kernel with network support. I could see my IBM
ethercard with disk image 0000 and use it to do a NFS install.

1. installing RedHat 5.1 via pcmcia ethernet

I am trying to install RH5.1 on a TI TravelMate 5300 laptop.  I don't have a
CD-ROM drive so I am relying on my 3com589c ethernet card to do a network
install.  The problem arises when I insert the supplemental disk to load
pcmcia services: cardmgr recognizes the card correctly, but then I get:

cardmgr[12]: executing './network start eth0'
cardmgr[12]: + ./network: /sbin/ifup: not found
cardmgr[12]: start cmd exited with status 2

Has anyone else had problems like this?  I can't continue the install,
obviously, because of the lack of a network connection.
