Can anyone help me out here i install linux over win 95 and a 3com509b -
tpo card doesn't initialize at all. Install on a clean HDD with just dos
6.22 on and it works just fine what is windows doing that dos isn't? or
vice versa.

 Be sure to disable plug and pray!  Boot with dos and run the card utilities
to set the irq and address, write them down and then disable plug and play.
When you boot from the Linux boot disk it will find the 3com card just fine.

We use the same 3com card in several Linux machines at our school.

You may need to specify the baseIO and IRQ in lilo.
Detail should be in Ether-HOWTO.
