Very Computer

I installed my ethernet card in RH 5.2 with no problems .  I then
installed RH 6.0, and installed the eth0 with seemingly no problems.
However it does not work.  When I boot up (or type
/etc/rc.d/init.d/network restart) I get the following

    Bringing up interface
lo                                                [OK]
    Bringing up interface eth0...Operation failed.
        failed.

[FAILED]

Sometimes when I type /etc/rc.d/init.d/network stop I get

    Shutting down interface eth0 ne.c:v1.10 9/23/94 Donald Becker

     eth0: NE2000 found at 0x220, using IRQ 10.

[OK]
    Disabling IPv4 packet forwarding                                [OK]

but most of the time I just get

    Shutting down interface eth0
[OK]
    Disabling IPv4 packet forwarding                                [OK]

Any ideas?

PS I have an Accton EN1660 PnP ISA card, and have tried both bootp and
DHCP to obtain my ip address (both bootp and DHCP worked under 5.2)
