Linux and pci ne2000 cards??

Post by Dan Sawye » Sat, 19 Jul 1997 04:00:00

Hello,

The system in a Pentium with a ne2000 compatable in an pci slot. The
config program was used to obtain the io address and the interupt. The
system does not find the ne2000.

There is a second isa ne2000 that configures and runs just fine. With
the exception of the eth# the configs are the same, with one or the
other being activated for test.

Any suggestions on pci ne eth cards??

Thanks,

Dan

PCI isn't the problem.  You need to specify the parameters for the
non-functional card in LILO.  ( Or whatever your prefered bootstrapper
happens to be. )  See the Ethernet-HOWTO for the appropriate info.

In your lilo config, add
apped "etho=1,1,eth1" I believe.  It is in the Muliple NIC Howto.

1. Linux and NE2000 compatible PCI card

Does anyone have a solution to this problem:

I've got a NE2000 compatible PCI network card (Realtek RTL8029 chipset)
manufactured by LanTech. Linux won't detect it at bootup, no matter what
I do. Card is set at port 0x6000 (there's no way to change it) and IRQ 3
(tried also 7 and 9), and kernel is compiled for NE2000 use.

I've tried to add append="ether=3,0x6000,eth0" to LILO, didn't help
anything. Then I added the port address to autoprobing list in ne.c
and re-compiled, didn't work either. The card isn't faulty, since it works
ok in Win95.

Any help is really appreciated!
