FrontPage 98/2000 Equivalent for Linux

Hi all,
I'm wondering if anyone knows of a FrontPage 98/2000 equivalent/clone
for Linux? I saw some pages made with FrontPage and they look nice, with
themes and all. Any information on something similar is greatly
appreciated.

Yeah, FronPage sucks. It mangles code. I hate it.
Why don't you design your own page instead of using generic M$ crap.

Have you tried the standard Netscape Composer ??
It ain't great for dynamic code and stuff, but it can be configured/modified
and tweaked a little.

And it ain't Micr***ft.

The closest thing I've seen is Quanta which is
included with KDE. I don't know if it has themes
like FP, but it looked like it had a lot of
functionality.

Boy, you ask a simple question and some of them jump on you for even
mentioning Microsoft.....   :(    Oh well, I also use FrontPage because
that's what I got stuck with at work and I found it easy enough to use and
put a web page together with.  So, it would be nice to know of something
similar out there, to which I thank those who gave some meaningful input to
the original question.   ;-)    I'll be checking out VIM & Quanta (...not so
sure about Netscape) when I get Linux up and running on this end....

Hi:  I think you should spend a few minutes with Amaya.  The w3c.org site can
direct you to it.  They've rounded the bend on this wysiwyg thing, and with a
little time, you should have everything FP does, plus, it will all be "pure"
html.  Just a thought, Tom

Thanks for your help guys.
I'm a VIM guy my self but was wondering about an equivalent to FP. I use
NS Composer and StarOffice 5.2 (which is great). Cant wait for
StarOffice 6.0.

Again thanks for your input.

Microsoft stuff with Linux? You could use WINE, but Windows and FP must be
installed...

ACK!  If I wanted to do raw HTML programming, you're right, I'd use
something like Notepad; but it's generally so much easier and quicker to use
a graphic/WYSIWYG type of program.  At least for me -- I'm sure some of the
"*" folks out there will disagree.    ;-)

If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate.

/* Guy's being comical...
just load up http://freshmeat.net or www.linuxberg.com and browse through
their archives. IBM made a "good" app similar to  Frontpage (forgot the
name), but its a win32 app so it relies on WINE... Anyhow, there's still
blowfish for those who know some HTML... Vim is actually for purists...

bluefish is a cool tool, but there is an ibm-tool available that looks
like fp. with some themes and a nice GUI. available at:

http://www-4.ibm.com/software/webservers/hpbuilder/

the downloadversion is a 30 day trial :(...

What is Quanta?  I compiled and installed KDE 2.0, along with everything
package avialable for it on KDE's ftp server right after 2.0 was
released, and I don't have it.

Q: Is Linux only good because it is free?
A: No, but Windows would still suck if it was.

Windows:  A 32 bit shell for a 16 bit operating system, originally
written for
an 8 bit processor on a 4 bit bus by a 2 bit company that can't stand 1
bit of
competition!
