Lucent Wildwire *internal* ADSL modem on a HP9680C anyone???

Post by H Sriniva » Sat, 26 Aug 2000 04:00:00

Hi

I will get ADSL service with static IPs in a couple of days.
I will be getting an external modem from  my DSL provider pacbell.
I am currently waiting for the modem to arrive.

My computer is already equipped with a Lucent
WildWire G.Lite ADSL *internal* modem.

I have RedHat 6.2 installed on my machine.

The WildWire modem has the software installed for
Windows 98.  Can I use this modem in Linux RedHat 6.2

I would like to know if anyone out there has used this
ADSL modem to successfully connect to the DSL service
provider, using Linux.

Any information regarding this is highly appreciated.

thanks,
Sri.

NO, it is one of those win-modems.
I am using Redhat 6.5.  It will not recognize the modem.

I have also found that the network card shipped with my hp 8770 is not
recognized by Linux.  For $20 I replaced it with a Linksys that is
recognized.  I still can't ping  any outside domains though.
still working on it.

1. Tecra 780CDM internal modem (Lucent,sigh..!?)

Hi,
does anybody know if the 56Kflex internal modem shipped with a Toshiba
Tecra 780 works
under Linux? I'm afraid it is of the same Lucent family as in Tecra 750
notebooks. Toshiba web page
says "K56flex internal modem with DSVD voice/fax support using V.34 and
V.80; built-in
cellular support in Windows 95".  At the boot it is detected as a 8250
port, but then no signs of life.
Also negative answers are well accepted, so I'll stop playing with
interrupts......
Thanks

Fabrizio
