hi any one had any problem with the DNS HOW-to that came with RedHat I'm
unable to
ndc start
it says named.conf line 12 which is

zone "."

type hint;
file "root.hints";

and get /etc/named.conf:12: syntax error near zone

is this problem located in named.conf or in the root.hints just trying to
get a name cache server.

thanks for the responses saying i missed the { in line 1 but that was my
typo in the post. i've also tried file"/var/named/root.hints"
