Newbie - innd problem

Newbie - innd problem

Post by Marc » Tue, 01 Dec 1998 04:00:00

RedHat 5.1

I'm trying to configure innd, but there is a problem that I cannot
solve.
Startinnfeed exits with the following messages in log:
----------
/usr/lib/news/bin/startinnfeed: setrlimit(RLIMIT_NOFILE, RLIM_INFINITY):

Operation not permitted
/usr/lib/news/bin/startinnfeed: execve: No such file or directory
----------

Does anyone know what's appening?

Is startinnfeed suid root? On my system it has the following perms:

-r-sr-x---   1 root     news        28111 Nov 10 22:09 startinnfeed

The fact that this appears wrong suggests you may have other problems with
permissions - you did do a `make install' rather than manually copying
files didn't you?

Note unless you are running a _serious_ newsserver with multiple peers you
probably don't even need innfeed.
