Okay, here's the situation. I have a 'sendmail.cf' file I created
some time ago (for use with a SlackWare distribution) that was working
fine as regards masquerading. I have since switched to RedHat 4.1,
but transferred said 'sendmail.cf' file to my new system.
Sometimes sendmail masquerades correctly, but other times it sends
mail with a return address containing the (then current) dynamically-
assigned hostname. Since my machine is one of the only machines
connected to my ISP _and_ running Linux, this can be a problem. If my
machine is not logged on with the particular hostname/address it had
when the message was sent, and a person attempts to reply to one of
the messages sent without masquerading, the reply of course fails.
I don't any longer have my O'Reilly & Associates book on Sendmail, so
I can't just look this up. Is there something obvious going on?
Any help would be appreciated.
