    I seem to be having a problem getting PPP setup. I installed a fresh
copy of mandrake 6.0 on a Pentium with a modem and a linksys 100mb network
card. I have read all the howto's and reinstalled mandrake with these
results. I can get connected every time and ping my local IP but can't ping
my gateway. I have run route before the connection and after and here is
what it looks like.

Before PPP connection

Does anything standout to anyone.
After connection my local IP is 209.142.128.xxx and my remote IP is
209.142.128.5.
I have added the dns servers to the resolv.conf file. I can ping my local
address 209.142.128.xxx but I get nothing back when I try to ping
209.142.128.5. I see the send light on my external modem blink but I don't
see the receive light blink.
    This computer works fine using PPP in windows 98.

The PPP interface configuration and routing were correct.

This reply is a little late, but check to make sure that pppd has the
crtscts option and that the modem profile has hardware flow control
(RTS/CTS) enabled with &K3 .
