Mandrake 9 as Print Server, TT font problem

Post by Crai » Fri, 10 Jan 2003 07:06:24

I have set up Mandrake 9 as a print server, using CUPS, with windows
clients printing through Samba from a variety of programs. All works
fine except Acrobat (v4) where some of the text prints but the rest is
just small boxes. Embedding the TrueType font when creating the PDF
file solves the problem, but we have many older PDF files that I do
not want to re-create just to print them.

I don't know much about Linux printing and fonts. What do I need on
the Mandrake print server to get around the font problem?

Thanks for your advice.

1. Using TT Fonts with Mandrake 9.0

When I go to the TT font installer in Control Center/System Administration,
the module scans the /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts directories notably the TTF
one with true type fonts, I can even have a preview of each of them. But
when I want to change the font of an application, say Konqueror, none of
these fonts appear in the window list. What is the reason ?
Using the latest KDE CVS.
