Found a BSD ftpd Linux port that appears to work well, and it compiled
without any problems.

To clarify this statement ...  wu-ftpd-2.4 is being currently

The most current release can be found at:
ftp://ftp.academ.com/pub/wu-ftpd/private

found at ftp://ftp.avian.org/src/fixkits/wu24.fix
I would strongly recommend that anyone running wu-ftpd-2.4
patch their source with the fixkit and rebuild the server.

Stan Barber has merged the fixkit with other patches in the
wu-ftpd-2.4.2-academ-BETA* distributions.

All of my changes to wu-ftpd-2.4.2-academ-[BETA8] are minor and
largely cosmetic.

Much as I like the credit, it belongs to *Hobbit* and Stan
Barber.

Later,
Ashok

"Well the diagnostics say it's fine buddy, so it's a software problem."

1. wu-ftpd - WITH Security fixes - Binaries wanted

So I read about the security problem concerning the SITE EXEC problem,
and the user's ability to assume root capabilities.

So I downloaded an archive with the new source code, but their aren't
any binaries. I've tried compiling, but all I get are a slew of
errors.

Geez. Since the CERT alert concerned Slakware Linux's version of
wu-ftpd, howcome nobody posted the damn binaries? Judging by the fact
that I couldn't get the damn thing to compile, certainly there are
some compileheads out there who have gotten it to work.

I have better things to do than trying to debug some compile problems.

And the Unix community wonders why Unix takes such a beating from
non-Unix people. If I get a program for Windows NT, I have never had
to compile it.

Do any of you out there have wu-ftpd binaries that are compatible with
Linux 1.2.8?

And I need to know where they go. I have searched my installed Linux
systems and cannot find any of the actual executables. They must be
buried in some sub-sub-sub-sub-subdirectory.

I don't have time for this shit. I just need the damn fixed binaries
and instructions on where to put them and how to make them work.

Happy Holidays!
