pppd: io(): Received non-LCP...

Hello, I'm trying to use pppd to connect two machines.  I just can't seem
to get it right, here are the file and logs:

Calling machine /etc/ppp/options:
--------------------------------------------
cua0 debug 38400 connect "/usr/lib/ppp/chat -t 30 -f
/etc/ppp/chat-connect.me" crtscts noipdefault lock mtu 296 mru 296 modem
disconnect "/usr/lib/ppp/chat -f /etc/ppp/chat-disconnect"
--------------------------------------------

Called machine /etc/ppp/options (also /etc/ppp/options.ttyS6):
--------------------------------------------
debug passive modem crtscts 38400 asyncmap 0 192.168.1.1:192.168.1.2
--------------------------------------------

Both logs look like this (this is the calling machine's) /var/adm/messages
(this is long):

It seems like the error is here, on this last line.  The above messages
just seem to continue, in an infinite loop.  I don't understand the code
enough to understand where things are going wrong.

UUCP name is not yet in the maps.  Thanks!
