Where in the world is the source for telnetd???

Where in the world is the source for telnetd???

Post by Bill Re » Thu, 07 Jun 2001 23:09:56

Okay, perhaps it's a dumb question and I'm just looking in the wrong
place.  I've built up my own Linux distribution from scratch
(http://www.linuxfromscratch.org) and now need to install the telnet
server but can't seem to find the source code anywhere.  I've got a
Red Hat 7.1 source CD but it doesn't seem to be on there.  I can't
even seem to find it n the Red Hat ftp site.  I found the GNU
inetutils package on freshmeat but it won't compile without errors.

Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

I downloaded my inetd and telnetd from:
  ftp://ftp.uk.linux.org/pub/linux/Networking/netkit

b.t.w. compiling inetutils on my lfs system als caused some problems. what
I did is changing the makefiles in telnet and telnetd subdir so telnet and
telnetd aren't compiled and installed.

Have you been to: http://www.rpmfind.net.  Put in the search term:
"telnet-server" and it will bring up the various telnet-server versions which
are currently available.  When you click on one of the links, it will provide
a RPM file which seems to contain the telnet-server source code in it.

See ya

1. Help: Am I the Only one in the world having problems installing SR5

I have been trying to install SR5 for a couple of months now.
Not continuously, but regularly.
I have tried 3 different computers (486 VL clones).
4 different disk drives (1 Gb SCSI and 1Gb IDE).
2 different SCSI CD-roms. Different cables.
3 different SCSI adapters (Adaptec 1522 & 2842 ).
2 different SCSI cables.
2 different floppy disk drives.
Enabling and disabling the memory caches.
And all the permutations and combinations I can think of.

Generally what happens is that the install starts running
and at about "5%" of the way through the screen
will stop changing the "Installation Status:" line.
The asterisks continue spinning on the top line but all disk activity
stops and the "Installation Status:" says
"Copying File .../ blah blah blah"
where the file name is different each time.

Has anyone else had this experience?
Has anyone any advice on what to do ?
