ppp 2.3.3 and ISDN Multi link connection

Hi,

I just got my isdn line installed and have spent the last several days
getting my ppp over isdn running. I have a 3com Impact IQ modem. here
is what I found. pppd 2.3.3 does not run in multi link mode. It
runs fine in single link mode (i.e. 1 64K channel). I have two
ISP's and both failed to yeild 128K connections when using
pppd 2.3.3. I tried both 2.0.33 and 2.1.88 kernels. When I installed
pppd 2.2.0f, the multilink came up correctly, but I have a problem
with my PAP. It seems like the 'name' parameter to pppd is not
properly recoginzied and I had to do some dancing around in my
startup scripts in order to get PAP working. The 'name' parameter
to pppd 2.3.3 seemed to work ok and I could have multiple entries
in my /etc/ppp/pap-secrets file.

In anycase, has anyone else had this type of trouble? I would like to
run the 2.1.X kernel, but now I'm bound do the 2.0.33 kernel since
pppd 2.2.0 will not run on the 2.1.X kernel. I will try and
get this message off to the pppd authors so that we can get
pppd 2.3.3 to work properly with multilink.

Steve.

 Steve,

You need the correct init strings. I use the Netopia ISDN modem which is
a clone of the 3Com Impact. Go to http://www.cdc.net/~scottk and check
the linux page where I have several manufacturers init strings available
in order to achieve MLPPP.

1. PPP multi-link over ISDN

Hello,

I try to use PPP multi-link but it seems don't work.
I add some line into ppp.conf (set mrru 1500, clone 1 2,...) but only
one isdn B channel is active. when i use
ppp ON myhost>show mp it see multi-link inactive !

Is it necessary to modify isdnd.rc ?  Anybody have an ppp.conf or
isdnd.rc for example ?

I use ELSA 128Kb isdn card and it run for 64Kb (one B channel) !

Thanks
