Was there a README file in the zip?  Most software that's distributed as
source code is configured with the command
 ./configure
or
 make config

hi  :)    Suse64  ver 9.2  refuses to connect to inet,
even tho winXP does on that machine - so the
NIC and feed are ok,

maybe the ABIT kv8pro  onboard ethernet driver
given by Linux
           needs updating from "via-velocity" to
"velocityget" ?
so ive unzipped it off the mobo CD into  /tmp/
and tried MAKE, but it says "err37 sources not
config, cant find  config.h"

***the kernel-sources are loaded, but i cant find
config.h
and also dont know how to "configure" it anyway.

    can anyone help please ?

PS  yast says the card is "already configured" (dhcp) and
it occasionally
gets the router setup screen on 192.168.1.1
briefly, then drops it.
konqueror gets about 1inch of the top of the page
then gives up.
Linux seems to be "struggling" -  what could that
mean  ?

are  "IP forwarding"  and "Request broadcast
response" needed ?

       many  thanks.

hi Bill,   yes there is   linux.txt  in the driver
package,
but after unzip  to  /tmp/  it then
only says "compile" and  "copy object" to
/lib/modules/.....
it doesnt specify  MAKE  INSTALL  but i
suppose thats how to do it ?

but when i tried MAKE  it said "err37  cant
find   config.h"
the "kernel-sources" are loaded, so where is
the  config.h  it expects ?

1. 3c905b and RedHat (installing new driver)?

I have a 3c905b eth card & RedHat 5.1 just installed - and
would like to install a new driver for the card.

I fetched one from http://cesdis.gsfc.nasa.gov/linux/drivers/vortex.html
but couldn't compile it with

gcc -DMODVERSIONS -DMODULE -D__KERNEL__ -I/usr/src/linux/net/inet -O6 -c 3c59x.c

apparently because I don't have the /usr/src/linux/net/inet dir.
To what directory should I point the includes on RH5.1?
