MTA - postfix

Post by Rage » Wed, 19 Oct 2005 23:18:06

I just replaced exim4 with sendmail then that with postfix MTA.
I am now pireodicaly getting the following e-mail to root(forwarded to
user):

FROM:
Cron Daemon

SUB:

/usr/share/sendmail/sendmail cron-msp

BODY:
/usr/share/sendmail/sendmail: line 820: /usr/sbin/sendmail-msp: No such
file or directory

I am running Debian Stable.
All mail appears to be functioning, in and out.
What can I do to fix this.

Thanks.

Postfix install it's own sendmail binary (Postfix to Sendmail compatibility
interface). It's installed in another directory than /usr/share/sendmail. To
find it:

        $ type sendmail

Then use proper path in your crontab.

Fixed problem:
I had a stale package sendmail-base on my system.
apt-get remove --purge sendmail-base
fixed my problem.

Thanks though.

1. Postfix MTA...need help (virtual domains)

Well, I've read the docs and the virtual man pages...which are pretty
good.  but i'm still not able to make it work.  I have
/etc/postfix/virtual which looks like this:

netpackrat.com                  anything

and in /etc/postfix/main.cf I have tried using:

mydestination = $myhostname localhost.$mydomain $mydomain virtual

and tried NOT using it.  At all times I restarted postfix and init.d,
and even tried rebooting the machine to make changes take effect.  I've
tried running "postmap virtual" and created virtual.db even though I
don't know what it does.

Anyway - mail to my machine runs fine.  Mail to any of the virtual
hosts bounce with "does not like recipient. Remote host said: 554:
Recipient address rejected: Relay access denied"

I've tried to follow the documentation with no luck.  What am I
missing?

Thanks...
