Apache server with Frontpage extentions

Apache server with Frontpage extentions

I have an Apache linux www server but a few of my friends use frontpage 98
to make web pages that I wish to host, but in order for them to post
properly onto the apache server, it would require me to install the
Frontpage server extentions.. I have been told that this would result in a
security risk and I am just wondering if anyone has any suggestions or
experiances with this type of scenario that they can let me know about..

        There is a fix on microsoft's web site for Apache.

        I have tried installing FP98 extensions on a Solaris (I know I know..)
        machine at work... Lets just say that I've been using Unix for 6 years
        (2 as root in a commercial environment),  and I could NOT make them
        work for the life of me!
        They always gave back misconfiguration errors,  yet I followed the
        MS docs....

1. Apache 1.2.5 and frontpage extentions

Hi everybody,

I installed SuSe 5.1 and apache 1.2.5 on my machine.

The apache server does his job very well, I have create one root web and
some virtuell webs.
I can browse them with my browser ;-)

And now I have to install frontpage extentions 3.0 for this virtuell
webs.
If I start the installationscript and I answered the questions with the
truth, this script installed me the root web.

And than if this script have to tell me the virtuell web, that I defined
in the file httpd.conf, it counts just any webs like this:

22) VirtWeb22
23) VirtWeb23
..
and so on

I hope you understand my problem.

If you have anything  that may help, please write me a mail.
I have to say that this is a little bit urgent *smile*
