Hello,
I have two Fast-Ethernet cards on my desktop: eth0 connected to Alcatel SpeedTouch ADSL
modem and eth1 connected to Fast-Ethernet hub going to my IBM Thinkpad. I have the eth1
network working great between my Redhat 6.2 desktop and Mandrake 7.0 IBM Thinkpad using a
SMC Fast-Ethernet NIC for my Redhat 6.2 eth1 and a AmbiCom 16-bit Fast-Ethernet PC Card
for my Mandrake 7 eth0. I can play mp3 files resident on my Redhat 6.2 desktop very nicely
on my Manrake 7 IBM Thinkpad Dock2 speakers using NFS through the Ethernet lines.
Now for the problem: I can do everything fine as Root on the Redhat 6.2 desktop as far
as getting on Netscape and surfing, retrieving email, etc.; however, as a normal user I
can only surf the web in a KFM window; however, when trying to open Netscape Communicator 7.2
as a normal user I get a "bus error" when done through a Unix shell prompt.
Does anyone have any knowledge why in Redhat 6.2 Root can access Netscape fine but a
normal user receives a "bus error?" I do not necessarily want to load Mandrake 7.0 or
7.1 on my desktop to solve this problem.
I will appreciate any advise.
Best regards,
Terrio Echavez
