HELP! DIP says: Host name Lookup failure

Post by Sam Sarm » Fri, 20 Jan 1995 19:01:24

I am trying to start dip and no matter what option/script file name (or no option)
I give it it says "Host name lookup failure".

I am on a single machine with no card ot other computers connected and want to use
it to connect to a SLIP/PPP provider.

Any responses are appreciated.  If possible E-mail me.

Thanx.

You have to use the numerical numbers or put the name/number translation
to your /etc/hosts file...

For some it is MS-Windows, for others it's the longest batch file on earth...

1. dip says 'Host name lookup failure' ???

Hi.  I'm trying to get a SLIP connection w/ dip, but dip is basically
refusing to even run.  I cannot even go 'dip -t'.  It says something like:

lennon.frop.org: Host name lookup failure

Any input will be appreciated.  TIA.
