10/100 baseT card supported by linux for home network

Hello,

I am in the processes of setting up a home network.  Right now There
will be two or three machines on the network.  One Win95, one linux,
and maybe one WinNT.  I currently am planning on setting it up with a
10Mbps hub.  Within the next year or two, I want to replace it with a
100Mbps hub.  So, I am looking for a network card supported by linux
that can easily switch from the 10Mbps portion to the 100Mbps portion.
I know from experience that the SMC EtherPower cards tend to have
problems with linux.

Does anyone have experience with a network card that has done this?

Thanks,
Kevin Hammond

I use HP 100 VG cards (ISA & PCI). Work really fine (the
driver under Linux is no problem) in 10T and 100VG. Basically, the
card has two port at the back (one 10T and one 100VG). The last PCI
card come with only one port. Performance is really good.
This is really the type of card that you need.

: Thanks,

The 3COM 3C595 works well and should auto sense 10 or 100Mbps.

1. 10/100 BaseT Ethernet cards in 550 ?

Has anyone managed to get the 10/100BaseT Ethernet cards to work in
their microchannel 550 with any version of AIX from 3.2.5 to 4.3?  The
only thing IBM seems to be able to tell me is that it should work but is
unsupported in the 550. (They didn't test it). At $795 a pop, that's not
comfortable!  Thx !
