TWO-Way cablemodems work fine w/ linux.
One way modems like the one described above may need a driver, which may
not be avail..
[reason why I say "may" instead of "will" There is a version of an
external one-way modem which the phone line is on the cablemodem, and
you can either configure the return information for the ppp line by
telneting to the cablemodem from the ethernet side [not from the coax
side or via a special win95/98 program]. That one has been tested with
linux....
so the correct answer would be "maybe"....
