Hi,

Currently i'm running on DNS.
Can i use DHCP with SAMBA ??
Do i need to configure hosts file for the server address ??

I need to run apache, sendmail, samba, hylafax, dial on demand  and probably
more services in the future, can all these service be use by windows clients
without DNS ??

Thanks.

Ideally, dhcp should give each computer its own address and all
that. I am using a dhcp client for my samba server, and it works fine.

1. using a 486dx2 for dhcp and samba

Next year, or maybe just this year we're going to deploy leased lines to
4 remote locations. Each remote network does not have its own server at
the moment. The remote network's clients only run one (UDP) database
application and e-mail and that's about it. Can I set up an 8MB
486DX2/66 in each network to act as a  server with dhcpd, samba and
maybe sendmail? I have about 8 users per network so it's not going to be
heavily used.
