Problems compiling in IPalias patch (1.2.13)

Post by Edward Hoope » Sat, 18 Jan 1997 04:00:00

I'm trying to add in IP aliasing to my Linux 1.2.13 system.  So I
downloaded the IP aliasing patch.  I found a patch file called
ipalias-1.2.13-patch.gz, and applied it.  No problems so far.  When I
compile (after doing make mrproper, etc.), I get a few warning messages
but no errors.  The warning messages are:

gcc -D__KERNEL__ -DHAVE_IP_ALIAS -I/usr/src/linuxelf-1.2.13/include
-Wall -Wstri
ct-prototypes -O2 -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe -m486 -c binfmt_elf.c

devinet.c: In function `ip_chk_addr':

Is this normal?  I guesses that the revision of the patch (1.2.13) was
meant for the revision of the kernel I'm using because the numbers where
the same...

I will eventually upgrade to a 2.0.x kernel, but the work is not
trivial, I don't know if 2.0.x supports IP aliasing, and I need a free
weekend to do the work.

TIA

1. compiling 1.2.13 after applying io.h patch and elf patch

Hello
I am still having problems.  I'm trying to recompile the dang
thing in order to enable IPX and then NCPFS.  I applied the elf patch
with the proper and same syntax as the io.h patch and I'm getting the
messages below.  Any ideas?  This is going to drive me to drink. Of
course this might be a better way to approach it :^).
