Hi all
I am a beginner to linux.
I have the following
2 windows based machines connected to each other on a simple network.  I
would like to add a Linux (mandrake) box to this so that I can see all 3
machines at the same time.  How do I connect my linux box to that I can see
the other machines and vice versa?

Thanks
CiaranG

you will need a hub in order to have all the PCs talk to each other and
some network cables of course. setup samba on the linux pc and use file
and print sharing on the windows PCs

Ok, well I have the hub, and the windows based machines are talking fine.
That was the simple process.  I will read up on samba (thanks BobC) and if I
have more questions I will get back to you at some stage!

Thanks

1. help ! SUN and linux, simple network -- networking newbie

Hi, I am a networking newbie trying to build a home network connecting
SUN sparc station and Linux box. Currently SUN is stand alone, linux has
a dial-up ISDN connection to my ISP. Looking for solution to browse web
and checking emails...other internet activity, etc. through Linux as
gateway(using IP masqurading ?). I have no clue where to start from. Hub
and network cards are ready for them installed.

Any suggestion will be appreciated.
Thanks
