You will need, a solid grounding in either discipline, either a college
course or university course. After working in a company for at least a
year then you can follow the certificate trail in the area that will help
you develop your skills.
Just getting some cetificates with no practical experience, is about as
much use as sticking your arse out of a car window and farting God Save
our Gracious Queen.

The University of Oklahoma Cooperative Institute for Mesoscale
Meteorological Studies is seeking individuals to work with
scientists at the National Severe Storms Laboratory (NSSL) to help
develop a radar algorithm system. The position will involve
porting Doppler weather radar algorithms to UNIX workstations and
developing methods for data distribution and conversion.
Requirements:
-------------
* Minimum requirements are a BS in Computer Science,
Engineering, or other related sciences and demonstrated
equivalent experience.
* Experience in the C programming language.
* Experience using the UNIX operating system.
Preferred Qualifications:
-------------------------
Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly
desireable.
* Client/server computing architecture
* Software engineering principles
* X-Windows & MOTIF programming
