DNS Problem

DNS Problem

Post by Dennis Clevenge » Sat, 01 Jan 2000 04:00:00

Hi,

I'm having a problem with my DNS settings.  The problem is that on my server,
I can resolve domainxxx.xxx to xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx and xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx to domainxxx.xxx,
but on any other server, I can only resolve domainxxx.xxx to xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx and not
vice versa.  I get a Non-existent host/domain.  This is probably a basic question,
so please forgive my ignorance. :)

Thanks,

Dennis

It depends what you mean by "resolve".

If your IP address is 12.34.56.78 then
        nslookup> 12.34.56.78
should fail.  If it succeeds on your server,
then your server is set up incorrectly.

What should succeed is
        nslookup> 78.56.34.12.in-addr.arpa
