mediaone cable modem

mediaone cable modem

let me just say first that i have read the cable modem mini-howto. i
also checked deja news to see if an answer was posted for this question
and have found none.  the mediaone setup i have consists of a cable
modem and a regular analog modem. the analog modem is used to send
upstream info while the cable modem is used for downstream info. any
ideas on how to configure this under linux... using redhat 5.1.  the
cable modem mini howto only seems to address the two-way systems and not
the hybrid

Ryan,

I think it is because his cable ISP hasn't upgraded the network yet,
on a cable network they need to remove the filters( in TV -land it was only
downstream)
that make sure that interference couldn't go on the Coax again and bother your
neighbours' TV,
For Cablemodems they need to remove the filters in all the connection boxes on
the street, that's one of the reasons
cablemodems take so long to get widespread.

Also, the reason why he asks is probably because he needs to do it this way :)

Not because he doen't know that an analog modem is slower than the cable-modem

You are perfectly correct in your assumption glenn. Mediaone hasn't updated to a
two way cable connection in my area yet. They said that maybe by december. I just
got tired of booting to win95 just to use the cable modem/analog modem hybrid
system and wonder if anyone had success with a similar setup under win95

1. MediaOne Cable Modem

I just got a MediaOne Cable Modem and it works fine in Windows, however, it
doesn't work in Corel Linux. First of all, how do I setup the cable to work
in Corel, and second how can I get two computer to share this one line if
the other one is Windows 95 only?
