(Mandrake 7.0-2)

In my 'messages' file named is logging a lot of stuff like that below
(every hour). It seems a bit excessive to me, as if debugging has been enabled somwhere, but I can't find anything...

(lines truncated)
Jul  6 09:53:45 bunyip named[445]: Cleaned cache of 11 RRsets
Jul  6 09:53:45 bunyip named[445]: USAGE 962841225 962631524 CPU=0.94u/0.2s
Jul  6 09:53:45 bunyip named[445]: NSTATS 962841225 962631524 A=729 PTR=121
Jul  6 09:53:45 bunyip named[445]: XSTATS 962841225 962631524 RR=433

Is this normal, or can the logging be reduced?

its normal. if you want to tone down bind logging from "info" to just
warning or emerg, you can do that in the config file. this if necessary
info though if you want to know how much your DNS has cached, or the
traffic/statistics for it.

Thanks for your help, I do believe I've found the culpret - in
"/etc/rc.d/init.d/named" named was being started with the "-d 1" parameter,
turning on debugging.

Having said that lets hope I haven't spoken too soon... 8-)

1. named log entry

Named is logging entries like this, and I've searched docs, readme's
how-to's and cannot find any thing related.

Can anybody tell me what this is/how to utilize it better?
