homesite on win 2k and mapped network-devices on samba

Post by Bj?rn Ahle » Thu, 08 Nov 2001 01:55:47

hi folks.
i'd tried the new homesite 5 and the following problem occured: i have
no permission to get on mapped network drives nor on the shares in
network neighbourhood. everytime the same error "permission denied".
our server is a redhat 7.0 server with samba 2.0.7.
i tailed the /var/log/samba/log.smb - here is an extract:

[2001/11/06 17:48:36, 0] smbd/password.c:authorise_login(831)
  rejected invalid user wwwrun
[2001/11/06 17:49:07, 0] smbd/password.c:authorise_login(831)
  rejected invalid user wwwrun

hmm. i'm logged as with my user-account. and i'm able to list devices
on my desktop (and writing and deleting files on them) - but not with
homesite (seems that word show up the same behavior).

anyone how could help me?
thx in advance bjoern.

I think the username you used for logging into your windows network
isn't "wwwrun" :)
So all you need is to map the user wwwrun to your own username (man
smb.conf, search for username map) or guest, or create the appropriate
account on your linux box, with a set of  sufficient unix permissions
for the share homesite wants to access.

Hi all,

I'm quite newbie in Linux, I've a pc in Redhat Linux 7.1 and another in
Windows 2000 (fat32 partition). Win 2k - 10.0.0.1 & Linux is 10.0.0.2, I can
ping both of the computer, but I don't know how to map my fat32 disk under
my Linux environnement, can anyone help me with some explanation or with
giving me a web site where I can find those informations please ?

Thanks in advance
