PCMCIA modem

PCMCIA modem

Post by Alexei Panki » Sat, 15 Apr 2000 04:00:00

I installed Redhat 6.2 on my Compaq Armada 7800. PCMCIA driver loads
and cardctl recognizes my modem, but it looks like it does not
connect with any serial port and minicom does not work.

I would appreciate any suggestions.

Alex.

1. Having problem with PCMCIA and USR Sportster PCMCIA modem

: I am trying to use a USRobotics Sportster SP1336 FAX modem with my Linux
: machine (Slackware 3.4, kernel has been upgraded to 2.0.33).  I am not
: having much luck -- I am running into a really strange problem.  The
: "serial_cs.o" driver gives the following complaint:
:
: Mar 11 03:40:09 guardian cardmgr[62]: executing: 'insmod /lib/modules/2.0.33/pcmcia/serial_cs.o'
: Mar 11 03:40:09 guardian cardmgr[62]: + register_serial: wrong version or undefined
: Mar 11 03:40:09 guardian cardmgr[62]: + unregister_serial: wrong version or undefined
: Mar 11 03:40:09 guardian cardmgr[62]: + Loading failed! The module symbols (from linux-2.0.33) don't match your linux-2.0.33

Here's a hint: the solution to this problem is mentioned in three
different places in the PCMCIA-HOWTO.
