pppserver and routing

Post by cande jerom » Thu, 30 Jan 1997 04:00:00

I have a local network at 192.192.192.0
I want one of these computers to be a pppserver.
This one is compiled with IP Forwardind.
The modem is an external modem (Sportster US Robotics).
The IP adress of this computer is 192.192.192.1

When I conncet the server with a client, pppd run correctly, the routing
table is made.
When I pinged the ppserver from the client, no problem, but I can't
reach no other computer on the local net.

I tried many options like:
exec pppd -detach modem crtscts proxyarp lock $LOCIP:$RMTIP
Nothing more.
The $LOCIP must be 192.192.192.1 in this example ?
Should I try with another address for the pppnet ?

Could someone send me a routing table with a brief description of his
network ?

Thanks a lot !!!

Sorry for my poor english !!

Actually you neededn't give it.  pppd will assume 192.192.192.1

Is $RMTIP 192.192.192.x ?  If not you can't use proxyarp.

It would make more sense for you to send yours!

1. Routing [Win95]--serial--[Linux]--modem--[PPPserver]

I really like to have help or comments about this config that i'm trying to install:

I have at home 2 PC, one with Win95 and one with Linux.
and I want to connect them together using serial cable (null-modem).

and then with the Linux machine using a 28.8 modem to connect to school, running SLIRP.

then:

[win95]-- serial --[Linux box]-- modem --[slirp/PPP at school directly on Inet]

my question is 1) how can I set Win95 (dialup Networking and PPP connection client)

2) how can I set Linux (running PPPD for win95 connection, and another PPPD for the modem connection and using 10.0.2.15 for slirp)

3) how can I re-route all the IP from win95 to linux..

I don't need that people on Inet see my linux or win95 box (slirp prob), I just hope that I can use Netscape, telnet from win95, ftp directly on the Net without using IP. == I need transparency from my win95.

I'm waiting for you comments, thanks in advance.
