PPP,PAP,IPCP: Can't connect!!

Help! Help! Help! Help! Help! Help! Help!
I've been trying to connect my Linux-Box to the
Internet for weeks now. I'm using pppd 2.20f.
(options: defaultroute asyncmap 0 modem crtcts +pap...).
The connection to my ISP can be made, the pppd
goes into PPP. The problem is, that the connection
terminates for no obvious reason (see syslog dump).
The termination is requested from my machine though,
which looks to me as if I have some configuration
problem somewhere. I have read all the HOWTO's and
FAQ's but I couldn't find any similar problem.
When I call <ifconfig> there is no ppp0 device.
Some suggestions from someone else were:
- noipdefault
- leaving out 0.0.0.0: in the options file
- using the outdated +ua...
and he raised the question where IPCP was in my log
- the IP-stack is never made.
My TCP-Services over ethernet between Windows
and  Linux work ok! (FTP,WWW etc.)
I'm using kernel 2.00 with PPP compiled statically
into it.

The entries in my syslog look like this:

PS: If someone could send me his syslog for a successful
connection, this could also be useful to me.
