HELP ! - Alcatel SpeedTouch USB modem for ADSL

Post by James E Taylo » Fri, 01 Mar 2002 07:50:01

I have read all the related FAQs for the above and have faithfully followed
them to the letter.

But.....

I have a problem when trying to create the nas0 atm interface.  I'm using
br2684 to create the interface but it gives an error message (unable to find
device).  I don't really know what parameters I should be giving the utility
and I recently rebuilt my kernel (2.4.17) with a new config from scratch;
either of which could be the problem.

Is there anyone out there who has succeeded setting up there Alcatel USB
modem (with PPPoE)?

If so:

1) How did you create your nas0 interface?
2) Should there be a /dev/nas0 file?  And if so, should I create it? And
with what major/minor numbers?

Please help, if you can.

Thanks,
James

If you get tired of that approach, take a look at
http://benoit.papillault.free.fr/speedtouch/index.en.php3
Benoit's drivers don't required kernel patches or a patched pppd.  The
ATM handler is a user space program.  I tried the other drivers first,
and Benoit's has been a LOT more stable for me.  It's also easier to
update your kernel with Benoit's drivers.
