Help - Proxy server (why can't send/receive mail ?)

Post by root » Tue, 03 Aug 1999 04:00:00

Could anybody give me a hand please? --- Why can't I send/receive mail
on a client machine running win95/98 through Proxy server???

I set up a Red Hat Linux 6.0 Proxy Server following the document. When I
used a client machine (LAN machine) running Windows 95/98 to
send/receive mail (I'm using Netscape 4.51), it gave me a message:

A network error occurred when Netscape was receiving data. (Network
error: Connection refused.)

However, I can use Netscape to browse the web sites, it works very well.
Also I can send/receive mail within the intranet. Just I can not
send/receive my outside mailbox  (from my ISP),  neither can I join the
outside newsgroup.

Did anybody know how to fix this problem??? Please give me a hand.

Godfrey

1. HELP: Mail/Pop Server Can't Received Mail

Hi,

I'm using Slackware 1.2.8 and it seems like I can
send mail to other people on the internet but
it doesn't work the other way around.  People
try sending back mail to me but my pop
server never seems to receive them; also those
people who sent me don't get an error message
from their mail daemon until 1 or 2 days later.
Another weird thing is that I can send and receive
mail within my hostname (that is, for example,
another user on my system can send to and receive
from root).  Thus, the pop server seems to work
within my hostname but not outside.  Can anyone
help me? Thanks...
