The network I administrate has NFS errors from time to time (I know
it shouldn't be anything major, but the error:
Aug 4 17:28:58 jane kernel: nfs_statfs: statfs error = 512
Aug 4 17:28:58 jane kernel: nfs_statfs: statfs error = 512
brought the network down to its knees and nothing worked until the
computer that generated these errors was restarted. Is there anyone
that can explain in max details what these errors mean and under what
conditions it happens (so I can hopefully avoid future crashes).
A recent addition to the syslog is:
Aug 4 18:00:39 jane kernel: nfs_stat_to_errno: bad nfs status return value: 116
